Once your site preparation, groundworks and foundations are completed, your site will probably be ready for the self build timber frame installation team to start the erection process.
Bear-in-mind that this stage is the result of an 8-10 week lead-time time, so you would have had to order this at least ten weeks prior to needing the kit on-site.
Package companies vary nationwide, as do their abilities. Some, such as SimplySelf-Build, offer a tailored package to your requirements (i.e. everything from a basic timber frame shell to a near full-build), and some offer a more basic service.
Either way, your timber frame structure will start going-up pretty quickly, and the time it takes on-site will depend on a lot of variables (weather, site access, unforeseen client changes are all examples). On a note here, unless you are an experienced builder or carpenter, we advise that you leave the experienced team to it – around 75% of the delays caused on our sites are client concerns, probably derived from inexperience or curiosity – again, make sure that you are on-site to sign-off the completed structure before the team leaves site – getting them back again could cause delay to your project.
Once the timber frame structure is completed, the next important issue is to, if it isn’t already, make it wind and watertight; windows, roof sarking, doors etc will give you a secure shell to which you can work around.
